Telecom Fiji and the Fiji Police Force have officially signed a landmark agreement to roll out the Safe City Project, aimed at enhancing public safety and security through advanced surveillance technology and network infrastructure.

Under this initiative, Telecom Fiji deliver high-speed fibre connectivity and CCTV infrastructure spanning the Suva to Nausori corridor. All video feeds will be terminated and monitored at the Fiji Police Command Centre located at the Central Police Station (CPS) in Suva.
This partnership marks a major step forward in leveraging technology for national security and community wellbeing. The Safe City concept will be a model for future expansions across the country.
Telecom Fiji Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Charles Goundar, said,
“This milestone project is more than just technology—it’s about creating safer communities for all Fijians. We are proud to partner with the Fiji Police Force in delivering a solution that not only improves public safety but also lays the groundwork for smarter cities in the future.”
Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu, echoed the significance of the collaboration:
“This is a critical development in modern policing, aligned with the organizational intent of maximizing the use of technology. With real-time monitoring and broader coverage, we will be better equipped to respond to incidents, deter criminal activity, and keep our people safe. Our partnership with Telecom Fiji reflects our commitment to using innovation for the protection of our citizens.”
The project’s successful implementation across Suva to Nausori will pave the way for its replication in other regions around the country, setting the foundation for a nationally integrated safety network.
